          Health Benefits of Garden Egg

Garden Eggs(Egg plant) has several health benefits. Below are some of them:

1. WEIGHT REDUCTION:
Because of the presence of fiber in garden egg, it is always a good recipe to add to your 'must eat' daily diet to reduce weight. It enhances weight loss because it contains low carbohydrates and essential calories.
The greenish type is usually the best for aiding weight loss.

2. PROMOTES HEALTHY BONE AND TEETH
From the nutritional value table above, it will be seen clearly that garden egg contain certain minerals and vitamins that are essential for strong bones and teeth. Those minerals and vitamins are Calcium, Iron, Manganese, Magnesium, Copper, Vitamin K, Vitamin C.
Also, these minerals and Vitamins helps to fight Bone degradation and Osteoporosis.

3. HELPS IN DIGESTION
Generally, the presence of fibres in diets aids efficient digestion. Thus, garden egg having a high fibre content aids digestion and promotes gut health, bowel movement, thereby preventing indigestion and bowel disturbance.

4. PREVENTS ANEMIA
Anemia is a medical condition in which the blood carries less amount of oxygen that is required to the tissues. This is caused by the presence of few red blood cells or too little haemoglobin, resulting to pallor and fatigue.
From the table of nutrients, garden egg contains a significant amount of Iron and this helps in the manufacturing of red blood cells in the body, thus fighting against Anemia. It is also rich in Copper which is also an important component of red blood cells.

5. FIGHTS AND PREVENTS DISEASES
This is an excellent food for people suffering from Diabetes. This is because it contains higher amount of fiber and negligible amount of Carbohydrates. Thus, fibre aids digestion and regulation of blood sugar level without adding more sugar to the blood.
Thus, it increases absorption of glucose and it's utilization in the body.

6. GOOD REGULATOR FOR BLOOD PRESSURE LEVELS/CHOLESTEROL
Garden Egg contain high amount of minerals( see the nutrient table above). These minerals helps in maintaining the electrolyte balance of the body, by neutralizing the effects of excess Sodium in the body thereby controlling blood pressure levels.
For cholesterol, Garden Egg contains an antioxidant Chlorogenic acid which helps in reducing the cholesterol level in the body(see previous posts for clarity).

7. PREVENTS HEART DISEASES(Cardiovascular Diseases, CVDs)
Some vitamins (Vitamin B1 and B6) contained in garden egg are important in the proper functioning of the circulatory system especially the heart. It's high content of potassium also helps in blood pressure regulation and maintenance.
Whereas deficiency in Vitamin B1 causes CVDs, Vitamin B6 deficiency leads to nervous system problems.

8. GOOD FOR PREGNANT WOMEN
Because garden egg is packed with different nutritional values, it plays a key role in ensuring a healthy gestation period.
It contains folic acid(Vitamin B9) which is essential for pregnancy as it protects infants from neutral tube defects.
However, Garden Egg should never be consumed excessive by a pregnant woman, as it can stimulate menstruation in them and this can be fatal to the foetus.
Therefore, Garden Egg should be eaten moderately and on a daily basis(if possible).

9. FIGHTS AGAINST SOME LIFE-THREATENING DISEASES
Garden Egg contain antioxidants like Nasunin, Flavonoids, Anthocyanins, Chlorogenic Acids, which helps in fighting against the development of Cancer and other Bacterial Diseases.
Generally, Garden Egg Improves the Immune System.
