Incredible health benefits of Eating Mangoes: Science proven facts

INCREDIBLE HEALTH BENEFITS OF MANGOES YOU MAY NOT HAVE KNOWN.

Mangoes popularly known as "the king of fruits" in addition to being sumptuous, pulpy and amazing, pack a host of health benefits too! Let me try my possible best to unravel them as much as I could.

Here are some benefits of mangoes you may not have heard of or known before:

1.  Helps in digestion
Mangoes could help facilitate healthy digestion. Mangoes contain enzymes that aid the breakdown and digestion of protein, and also fibre, which keeps the digestive tract working efficiently. Dietary fibre helps lowering risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes. Green mangoes have more pectin fibre than ripe mangoes.

Like I posted earlier about oranges, bananas and other fruits, Mangoes are rich in fiber which makes them one of the best fruits to speed up digestion.

Watch Out For My Next Post on Some Fruits That Aid In Digestion.

2. Promotes Healthy Gut
Just like in Point 1 above(aiding in digestion), the fibres container in Mango feeds the bacteria in the gut. Thus, promotes healthy gut.
Healthy gut results in Healthy state and improved digestion. Vice versa is detrimental to Health.

Leaky gut(which results from insufficient fibres),  also results in skin conditions like IBS, asthma, slow metabolism and other health issues.

3. Promotes eye health

Like Apples(see previous post), Mangoes contain Beta-Carotene(this helps in the production of vitamin A) which is necessary for eye health. This powerful Anti-Oxidant(Beta-Carotene) helps improve vision, boosts overall eye health and even prevents age-related macular degeneration or loss of vision.

4. Boosts Immunity

It might surprise you to know that eating mangoes regularly makes your immune system stronger by more than 30% of a person who doesn't eat fruits.

An average-sized Mango contains upto two-third of the daily recommended intake of vitamin C. The powerful antioxidant helps boost immunity system and prevents cold/flu.

So I guess you will advice yourself on what fruits to take from now onwards.

NB: For a complete list of the right combination of fruits to take per day, read my other posts and subscribe to this blog to get updates. You can also message the Admin for questions that you think should be private.

5.  Lowers Cholesterol
Low-Density Liproprotein(LDL or Bad Cholesterol) is the substance responsible for raising the level of blood cholesterol and causing terrible medical conditions which may even lead to death if not well handled.

Eating mangoes could help regulate your cholesterol levels too. The high levels of fibre pectin may help bring down the low-density lipoprotein (LDL or bad cholesterol) which causes plaques in the vessels and blocks blood flow.

6. Even Diabetics Could Enjoy it

Yes it is sweet, and should be eaten sparingly, but that doesn't make mangoes a strict no-no for diabetics. The glycemic index of mangoes ranges between 41 to 60, with an average of 51. The value of 51 is on the lower end of the glycemic index scale. Foods that are less than 55 are consider to be low glycemic food, which is safe for diabetics to consume. Foods with low glycemic index, makes sure the release of sugar in the blood is slow, and there is no sudden spike in the blood glucose levels. Besides that, mangoes are also rich in dietary fibres, which again helps regulate the blood sugar levels.

Thus, it is safe for diabetic patients to eat mangoes as well as any other natural fruits they so desire however, that under the supervision of their doctor to avoid complications arising from other components of the fruits like phosphorus, calcium, etc.

7. Clears the Skin

Mangoes are filled with skin-friendly vitamin C and Vitamin A, both of which are crucial for healthy skin and skin repair. Mangoes, eaten in moderation are also known to exfoliate and eliminate dead pores. According to Macrobiotic nutritionist and Health Practitioner Shilpa Arora ND, "Mangoes are loaded with skin healing nutrients"; for example, fibre in mangoes cleanses your gut that is overloaded with toxic substances.

8Aids Weight Loss
Great news for our Lovely Ladies who wants to shed some weights. This is one great news:

Mangoes when eaten in moderation could also help in weight loss. The phytochemicals in the mango skin act as natural fat busters. The mango flesh is filled with dietary fibres. Fibres induce a feeling of satiety. On eating high-fibre fruits or veggies you feel full for a longer time, which prevents you from tucking in other high fattening snacks.

So, I guess you are already thinking about getting yourself a juicy, fresh mango right now and start devouring while allowing your body to do the hard work of synthesizing the components.
